CREATE A PHOTO ALBUM WITH NeoPhoto
Before you get started, it's a good idea to read some of the NeoPhoto documentation.
- Open NeoPhoto
- Select Help/Contents.
- Read the following sections:
Browsing and Searching: Browsing for Photos
Working with Albums: all sections
Sharing Your Albums: Creating Web Pages
Now you can create a photo album with the pictures you want to put on the CALS web.
- Select File/New Photo Album (or click the New button on the opening screen).
- Enter the title and description for the album. For field trip albums, the title should be the name of the field trip or location where the shots were taken. This is the title that will appear at the top of the page. The description will appear below the title on the web index page for this album. It should provide information about the site and the trip. See http://crustose.net/~cals/fieldtrips/DeerCreekHills/michelle/index.html for an example. You might want to include your name in the description.
- With the Browse tab selected, use the tree view in the upper left of the screen to navigate to the folder containing your photos. In the lower left, select the photos that you want to appear on the web page. (If you don't already know how to select multiple files or folders, read the Windows help page "selecting files or folders: multiple files or folders".) Drag the selected photos to the main window.
- Rearrange the photos in the order you would like them to appear on the web page by dragging and dropping them.
Now you must add a title and optional description to each photo. Ideally, the title is the name of the pictured lichen. This is important, because I plan to write a script that will create an index of photo titles, so people can go directly to pages with specific lichens.
- Double-click the first image. Click the edit link at the bottom of the page. In the Photo Description dialog box, enter the photo title and, if you wish, a description. Click Next> and repeat for the remaining photos.
- Close the Photo Description dialog and the large photo window. Save your album (File/Save Changes or control-s). You are now ready to create your web pages.
