Discover Dye Lichens at Point Reyes

10:00 – 2:00, May 3, 2014. Meet at Bear Valley in front of the Point Reyes National Seashore Visitor Center for a walk led by CALS President Shelly Benson and CALS Secretary Sarah Minnick that will focus on distinguishing dye lichens.  We will review the basics about lichens and how to use them as dyes, then we’ll see what we can identify along the trail, paying particular attention to the lichens that produce good dye colors. Lunch on the trail. This walk is for information only and is NOT a collection trip; kindly respect National Park Service goals to preserve and protect natural resources, including lichens. Thanks! Please RSVP to sarah@californialichens.org
